Lions CB Darius Slay Expected To Hold Out Of Minicamp

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media confirms that Lions CB Darius Slay will not be in attendance for the start of mandatory minicamp and will be subject to fines from the team.

Slay is looking for a new contract from the Lions.

Earlier in the day, Slay said during an Instagram Live session (via PrideofDetroit.com) that he was going to be in attendance for minicamp.

When asked about minicamp, Slay said: “I donโ€™t know, I ainโ€™t goin.”

As for why he isn’t attending the workouts, Slay responded: “Hey man, Iโ€™m chillinโ€™, man.”

Slay, 28, is a former second-round pick of the Lions back in 2013. He played out his rookie contract before agreeing to a four-year, $50.2 million extension that included $23 million fully guaranteed.

Slay stands to make a base salary of $12 million for the 2019 season.

In 2018, Slay appeared in 15 games for the Lions and recorded 43 tackles, three interceptions, one defensive touchdown, and 17 pass defenses.
