Lions Decline LB Jarrad Davis’ Fifth-Year Option

According to Justin Rogers, the Lions have declined LB Jarrad Davisfifth-year option for 2021.


The Detroit Lions are expected to decline LB Jarrad Davisfifth-year option for the 2021 season, according to Ian Rapoport

The fifth-year option was guaranteed for injury only and wouldn’t have prevented them from negotiating a contract extension in the coming months. It was projected to cost them $10,089,000 for the 2021 season. 

Davis, 25, is a former first-round pick of the Lions back in 2017. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $10.96 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $1.96 million for the 2020 season. 

Davis will be an unrestricted free agent in 2021. 

In 2019, Davis appeared in 11 games and recorded 63 total tackles, four tackles for loss, two sacks, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 84 overall linebacker 87 players.
