Lions Free Up Close To $2M In Cap Space After Reworking S Glover Quin’s Contract

 

The Lions restructured Sย Glover Quin‘s contract last week to free up some additional cap space.

According to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, the Lions have reducedย Quin’s 2014 cap figure fromย $4.55 million toย $2.478 million after they converted $2.7ย million of his salary intoย a signing bonus.

  • Birkett mentions thatย Quin’s future cap figures willย go up closeย $700,000 perย year.
  • Birkettย adds that the Lions shold nowย have aroundย $5.5 million in available cap room.

Quin, 28, signed aย five-year, $23.5 million contract that included a $5.25 million signing bonus with the Lions last year.

He wound up appearing inย all 16 games last year and recorded 57 tackles, two sacks, three interceptions, a forced fumble and a recovery. Pro Football Focus hadย him rated as the N0. 10 safety in the league out of 86 qualifying players.
