The Lions restructured SÂ Glover Quin‘s contract last week to free up some additional cap space.
According to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, the Lions have reduced Quin’s 2014 cap figure from $4.55 million to $2.478 million after they converted $2.7 million of his salary into a signing bonus.
- Birkett mentions that Quin’s future cap figures will go up close $700,000 per year.
- Birkett adds that the Lions shold now have around $5.5 million in available cap room.
Quin, 28, signed a five-year, $23.5 million contract that included a $5.25 million signing bonus with the Lions last year.
He wound up appearing in all 16 games last year and recorded 57 tackles, two sacks, three interceptions, a forced fumble and a recovery. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the N0. 10 safety in the league out of 86 qualifying players.
