Lions Hire Jimmy Raye III As Senior Personnel Executive

According to Ian Rapoport, the Detroit Lions hired veteran executive Jimmy Raye III as their new Senior Personnel Executive late last week.

Rapoport says that Raye III will work directly with Lions GM Bob Quinn.

The Panthers interviewed Raye III for their GM position before sticking with Marty Hurney.

Raye III, 49, coached one season for the Chiefs as their offensive quality control coach in 1995. He later was hired by the Chargers as a scout and worked his way up to director of player personnel in 2008.

Raye III spent five years in that role before the Colts hired him as their VP of football operations in 2013.

After four years in Indianapolis, Raye took over as the VP of player personnel/assistant general manager with the Texans.

We’ll have more regarding the Panthers’ GM search as the news is available.
