Lions Make Several Roster Moves

The Detroit Lions announced several roster moves on Thursday including signing DT Ricky Jean Francois and LB Darnell Sankey.

Sankey, 23, originally signed on with the Broncos as an undrafted free agent out of Sacramento State. Unfortunately, Denver chose to waive him as they trimmed down to 75 players.

The Raiders later signed him to their practice squad a few weeks into the regular season before cutting him loose in October of last year. He signed to the Chiefs practice squad but was released after a month with the team.

The Vikings signed him to a contract in August but elected to cut him loose after a few weeks. He was on and off of the Colts roster before catching on with the Ravens in November.

Indianapolis re-signed Sankey to a futures contract this past January only to cut him loose after this year’s draft.

During his four-year college career, Sankey recorded 330 tackles, 12.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, two recoveries an interception and nine pass defenses. Sankey earned FCS All-America honors during his senior season at Sacramento State.
