The Lions also placed G Brandon Thomas on the PUP list, and OT Greg Robinson and DE Cornelius Washington on the NFI list.
Ansah, 27, was taken with the No. 5 overall pick by the Lions back in 2013. He played out the final year of his four-year, $18.595 million rookie contract before the Lions picked up his fifth-year option last May.
Ansah stands to make a base salary $12.7ย million for the 2017 season, but this figure isย guaranteed only for injury and won’t prevent them from working on a long-term extension over the next year.
In 2016,ย Ansah appeared in 13 games for the Lions and recorded 34 tackles and two sacks while dealing with some injuries.ย Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 51 edge rusher out of 109 qualifying players.
Kouandjio, 23, is a former second-round pick of the Bills back in 2014. He was in the final year of his four-year, $4.808 million contract that included $2.825 million guaranteed and was set to make a base salary of $1,025,748 for the 2017 season when the Bills waived him last month.
Kouandjio signed a one-year contract with the Lions a few weeks later.
In 2016, Kouandjio appeared in 12 games for the Bills.
