The Detroit Lions announced Monday that they’re placing DE Trey Flowers on injured reserve.
However, the good news is that Flowers is expected to return to the team later on in the season.
It’s worth mentioning that the NFL changed the rules regarding injured reserve for the 2020 season and players can return from the list in just three weeks.
Flowers, 27, is a former fourth-round pick of the Patriots back in 2015. He played out the final year of his four-year, $2,838,932 contract with the Patriots in 2018 before agreeing to a five-year, $90 million contract with the Lions last year.
In 2020, Flowers has appeared in seven games for the Lions and recorded 22 tackles, two sacks, two forced fumbles, a recovery and a pass defense.
