Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Lions are releasing CB Nevin Lawson on Saturday.
Lawson, 27, is a former fourth-round pick by the Lions out of Utah State back in the 2014 NFL Draft. He finished his four-year, $3,449,349 rookie contract before agreeing to a two-year, $10.3 million contract with the Lions last year.
According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Lawson will free up $4,675,000 of available cap space while creating $1,125,000 in dead money.
In 2018, Lawson appeared in 15 games for the Lions and recorded 53 tackles, one sack, no interceptions and five pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 91 cornerback out of 112 qualifying players.
