Lions Releasing RT Rick Wagner

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Lions are releasing RT Rick Wagner on Friday.

The Lions have already confirmed the news:

Wagner, 30, is a former fifth-round pick of the Ravens back in 2013. He has played out his four-year, $2,304,560 rookie contract before later agreeing to a five-year, $47.5 million contract that included $17.5 million guaranteed.

Wagner was set to make a base salary of $9 million for the 2020 season.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Wagner will free up $6.1 million of available cap space while creating $5.8 million in dead money.

In 2019, Wagner appeared in 12 games for the Lions, making 12 starts at right tackle.
