The Detriotย Lions announced Wednesday that they’ve signed RB Mark Thompson to a futures contract for the 2019 season.
As of now, the Lions have signed 7 players to futures deals including:
- WR Deontez Alexander
- LB Garret Dooley
- S David Jones
- OL Jarron Jones
- DE Jonathan Wynn
- QBย Connor Cook
- RB Mark Thompson
Futures deals are essentially camp invites that will give players the opportunity to compete for roster spots during offseason workouts and training camp.
Thompson, 24, wound up signing on with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent out of Florida back in May of last year. He agreed to a three-year, $1.71 million contract with the Ravens, but wound up being among their roster cuts coming out of the preseason.
Thompson spent a month on the Ravens’ practice squad before finishing out the year on the Jets’ taxi squad.
During his two years at Florida, Thompson rushed for 596 yards on 126 carries (4.7 YPC) to go along with 16 receptions for 184 yards receiving and six total touchdowns.
