The Detroit Lions announced Monday that they’ve signed TE Wes Saxton to a contract.
Saxton, 24, wound up going undrafted out of South Alabama back in 2015. He was on and off of the Jets’ practice squad during his rookie season before returning to the team on a futures contract in 2016.
After he was once again cut loose coming out of the preseason, Saxton signed on to the Redskins’ practice squad where he remained for the entire season. Washington re-signed him to a futures contract before waiving him after last year’s draft.
Saxton had a brief stint with the Bills, but sat out the entire 2017 season.
In 2015, Saxton appeared in one game for the Jets but did not record a statistic.
