Ian Rappoport of NFL Media reports that the Lions are signing CB DeShawn Shead to a one-year contract worth $3.5 million and can increase up to $6.5 million with playtime incentives.
It’s worth mentioning that signing him to a contract won’t impact a team’s 2019 compensatory picks, given that he was released this offseason.
Shead worked his way back fromย a torn ACL and meniscus in his left knee that he suffered during the divisional round of the playoffs in 2016.
Shead, 28, originally signed on with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of Portland State back in 2012. He returned to the Seahawks on a one-year exclusive rights contract for the 2016 season.
Last year, Seattle declined to tender him a contract as a restricted free agent but later brought him back on a one-year, $1.5 million contract.
In 2017, Shead appeared in two games for the Seahawks and recorded two tackles and no interceptions or pass defenses.
