Lions Signing CB Rashaan Melvin To One-Year, $3.5M Deal

Adam Schefter reports that the Lions reached an agreement with free agent CB Rashaan Melvin on a one-year deal, $3.5 million.

The Lions recently brought Melvin in for a workout and it appears every checked out from their end.

Melvin is coming off of a down year with the Raiders, but is a year removed from a solid season with the Colts. He could be a decent bounce-back candidate in 2019.

Melvin, 29, originally signed on with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent out of Northern Illinois back in 2013. He has played for a few teams since the Buccaneers cut him loose at the start of the 2014 season including the Dolphins, Ravens and Patriots.

The Raider signed Melvin to a one-year, $6.5 million contract last year.

In 2018, Melvin appeared in 14 games for the Raiders and 56 tackles, one interception and nine pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 93 cornerback out of 112 qualifying players.
