Adam Schefter reports that the Lions are signing veteran WR Jermaine Kearse to a one-year contract worth $1.35 million that carries a max value of $2.3 million on Thursday.
According to Schefter, Kearse’s deal includes $350,000 guaranteed.
The Lions just recently brought Kearse in for a visit and it appears as though he was impressive enough to earn an offer from the team.
Kearse was one of the best available receivers and should give the Lions some quality.
Kearse, 29, originally signed on with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of Washington back in 2012. He spent his rookie season on and off of the Seahawks’ practice squad before making the 53-man roster the following year.
The Seahawks re-signed Kearse to a three-year, $13.5 million contract in 2016. In 2017, the Seahawks traded Kearse to the Jets as a part of the deal for DT Sheldon Richardson.
In 2018, Kearse played in 14 games for the Jets and recorded 37 receptions for 371 yards receiving (10.0 YPC) and one touchdown.
We had him featured in our Top 50 Available Free Agents list.
