Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reports that the Lions brought in three players for tryouts on Friday including DE Shelby Harris, OL Dallas Thomas and DT Lawrence Virgil.
Thomas, 26, is a former third-round pick of the Dolphins back in 2013. He was in the final year of his four-year, $2.846 million contract and set to make a base salary of $705,000 for the 2016 season when the Dolphins cut him loose a few weeks ago after a disappointing outing.
In 2016, Thomas has appeared in two games for the Dolphins and has been limited to playing just 71 snaps, according to Pro Football Focus.
Harris, 25, is a former seventh-round pick of the Raiders back in 2014. He’s been on an off of their practice squad over the past two yearsย but returned to the Raiders on a one-year, exclusive rights deal in April.
Unfortunately, the Raiders waived Harris back in Mayย to make room for undrafted rookies. Harris later signed on with the Jets in Julyย but was among their early roster cuts during the preseason.
In 2015, Harris appeared in seven games and recorded 12 tackles and a sack for the Raiders
