Field Yates of ESPN (per Michael Rothstein) reports that the Lions have waived C Braxston Cave and TE Casey Pierce on Tuesday.
Cave, 26, originally signed on with the Browns as an undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame back in 2013. He lasted just a few months in Cleveland before he was later claimed off of waivers by the Patriots.
Cave had brief stints with the Redskins and Browns before signing a future/reserve contract with the Lions back in January of last year. He re-signed with Detroit on an exclusive rights deal this offseason.
Cave has yet to appear in an NFL game.
