Lions Worked Out DT Rufus Johnson & DE Rakim Cox

Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports that the Lions are working out DT Rufus Johnson on Tuesday.

The Lions also tried out DE Rakim Cox on Tuesday, according to Howard Balzer.

Johnson has also worked out for the Bears and Seahawks this season.

Johnson, 26, is a former sixth-round pick of the Saints back in 2013. He spent just over a year in New Orleans before he was waived at the start of the season.

The Patriots later signed him to future/reserve contracts in each of the next two seasons before releasing him coming out of the preseason before adding him to their practice squad for a few days.

In 2015, Johnson appeared in one game for New England and recorded just one tackle.

Cox, 25, originally signed on with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent out of Villanova back in 2014. He caught in with the Dolphins shortly after being waived.

The Panthers later signed him to a contract in May of last year but was among their final roster cuts coming out of the preseason. Carolina signed him to a futures/reserve deal back in February but was waived when the team trimmed down to 75 players.

He has worked out for the Chiefs and Lions since becoming a free agent but was not signed to a contract.

He has yet to appear in an NFL game.
