Jackson, 21, originally signed on with the Bills as an undrafted free agent out of Buffalo back in May. He was among the Bills’ final roster cuts coming out of the preseason.
During his four-year college career at Buffalo, Jackson recorded 533 completions on 955 pass attempts (55.8 percent) for 6,999 yards, 49 touchdowns, and 24 interceptions to go along with 201 rushing attempts for 757 yards (3.8 YPC) and 16 touchdowns.
Heinicke, 26, wound up signing on with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent out of Old Dominion back in 2015. He managed to make the 53-man roster during his rookie season but wasn’t active for a single game.
The Vikings elected to waive Heinicke with an injury designation coming out of the preseason in 2017 before eventually cutting him loose with an injury settlement.
Heinicke had brief stints on the Patriots and Texans before being claimed by the Panthers in April of last year. Carolina re-signed him to a one-year, $850,000 contract back in March but was among their final roster cuts this preseason.
In 2018, Heinicke appeared in six games and completed 61.4 of his pass attempts for 320 yards and one touchdown and three interceptions.
