Lions Working Out WR Bruce Ellington

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Lions are working out veteran WR Bruce Ellington on Saturday.

Detroit just worked out WR Jeremy Kerley on Friday, so they’re clearly taking a look at some available receivers after trading away Golden Tate before the deadline.

Ellington, 27, is a former fourth-round pick of the 49ers back in 2014. He was in the final year of his four-year, $2.694 million rookie contract when he was waived by San Francisco and claimed by the Jets.

Unfortunately, Ellington missed the entire 2016 season after he suffered a torn hamstring during the preseason and was later placed on injured reserve.

The Texans signed Ellington back in August of last year and placed him on injured reserve in December with another hamstring injury. Ellington did, however, return to Houston on another one-year contract this past March, only to be released from injured reserve with a settlement earlier in the week.

In 2018, Ellington appeared in three games and recorded eight receptions for 92 receiving yards and a touchdown.
