MLB Scouts Believe Tim Tebow Has “No Shot” At Pro Baseball Career

Katie Strang of ESPN.com spoke to three MLB scouts regarding Tim Tebow’s upcoming workout for teams. All three scouts reportedly expressed “serious doubt” Tebow could make it in Major League Baseball.

No shot,” one scout told Strang.

Another scout said that it’s “very unlikely” Tebow makes it while a separate scout said of Tebow’s swing: “If it was any longer, it would take out the front row.

Tebow’s workout is scheduled for Aug. 30 in Los Angeles and there expected to be “more than 20″ teams in attendance for the session.

Tebow’s agent, Brodie Van Wagenen, made the announcement a few weeks ago that Tebow was planning to pursue a baseball career.

“Obviously we support Tim in his pursuit of a baseball career, as we have in all his ventures,” said Tebow’s football agent, Jimmy Sexton, via ESPN.com. “Tim’s athletic ability, his work ethic, his leadership and his competitiveness were evident in football and will show in baseball. Knowing Tim’s passion and desire, we won’t be surprised by anything he accomplishes.”

Tebow actually hit .494 as a junior during high school and an All-State selection.

Even so, it’s hard to say he has great odds of ever appearing in an MLB game. Some have wondered why Tebow hasn’t tried to make it in the CFL or even change positions to fullback or tight end.

Tebow, 29, is a former first-round pick of the Broncos back in 2010. He spent just two years in Denver before he was later traded to the Jets in 2012. He had a brief stint with the Patriots before the Eagles surprisingly gave him an opportunity last summer.

During the preseason last year, Tebow threw for 286 yards while completing 58.3 percent of his passes to go along with two touchdowns and an interception. He also contributed 82 yards rushing and a rushing touchdown.
