Money An Issue For Broncos Signing DeAngelo Williams?

The Denver Post reports that the Broncos budget constraints “may preclude” them from landing RB DeAngelo Williams.

Denver is said to be focusing on their defensive line and more specifically DT Cullen Jenkins who has been drawing a lot of interest. Yesterday they made an offer to DE Charles Johnson but ultimately lost out to the Panthers. The Broncos may feel that spending money on their defense is a better use of their resources and grabbing a cheaper running back such Willis McGahee or Jason Snelling is better move for them.

There was plenty of speculation that they were looking to sign Williams leading up the start of free agency but it appears more likely now that he’ll return to the Panthers if they’re willing to make him a competitive offer. If the Broncos are out of the mix then Miami Dolphins could be the team to watch. Yesterday we highlighted a report from Omar Kelly in which he mentioned that the Dolphins should be in on Williams.
