More Than Eight Teams Showed Interest In Trading For Maxx Crosby

Per Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, the Raiders had a robust market for DE Maxx Crosby at the Combine. By the time a trade was finalized, he writes that over a quarter of the league (eight teams) had shown varying degrees of interest in trading for Crosby.

Breer adds the Bills, Bears and Cowboys were among the most serious suitors, along with the Ravens of course.

The Eagles checked in and Crosby would have loved to go to Philadelphia, per Breer, but they never got seriously involved and focused more on trying to retain OLB Jaelan Phillips. The Bengals also checked in late in the process.

Ultimately, Breer writes the Cowboys and Ravens emerged as frontrunners because both were willing to put their first round picks at No. 12 (DAL) and No. 14 overall (BAL) on the table. That pushed out teams like the Bills that owned selections later in the round because they would have had to include significantly more picks to match the offers from Dallas and Baltimore.

As has been well reported, the Ravens won out because they included a second first, which is not something the Cowboys were willing to do.

Crosby, 28, is a former fourth-round pick of the Raiders back in 2019 out of Eastern Michigan University. He was entering the final year of his four-year, $3,302,264 contract that included a $782,264 signing bonus and was set to make a base salary of $850,000 when he signed a four-year, $98.98 million contract extension with over $53 million guaranteed.

Crosby was due base salaries of $22.236 million and $18.84 million in the final two years of the deal when he signed a three-year, $106.5 million extension in March 2025.

The Raiders traded him the following offseason to the Ravens for two first-round picks.

In 2025, Crosby appeared in 15 games for the Raiders and recorded 73 tackles, 28 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, one interception, six pass defenses, and two forced fumbles.
