Buccaneers Interview Bruce Arians For HC Job

Update:

Ian Rapoport reports that the Buccaneers would not owe the Cardinals compensation for hiring Bruce Arians as their head coach because his 2019 team option was declined by Arizona.

The Buccaneers announced that they have completed an interview with former Cardinals HC Bruce Arians on Saturday.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Buccaneers have “real interest” in former Cardinals HC Bruce Arians for their head-coaching job.

According to Rapoport, the interest is mutual and the two parties could set up an interview at some point in the near future.

Tom Pelissero adds that there has been a sense in the Buccaneers’ building this week that Arians is their guy.

Arians recently told Rapoport that he would listen to the Buccaneers, given that he knows GM Jason Licht.

“I know Jason (Licht). So, I would listen,” Arians said.

Arians, 66, was hired by the Cardinals back in 2013 after he filled in for Colts HC Chuck Pagano while he was fighting cancer and managed to win Coach of the Year.

During his five years with the Cardinals, Arians led them to a record of 49-30-1 (61.9 percent), which includes two playoff appearances and a trip to the NFC Championship game in 2015.

We’ll have more regarding Arians as the news is available.
