NFC East Notes: Cowboys, Eagles, Giants, Redskins

Cowboys

  • NBC Sports’ Peter King believes Cowboys QB Dak Prescott wants to stay in Dallas no matter how drawn out the negotiations become.
  • While Prescott might not participate in virtual OTA’s, David Moore of the Dallas Morning News says the two sides have had a “very positive” discussion in the past two weeks.
  • NFL Media’s Jane Slater mentions LSU DE K’Lavon Chaisson, Florida CB C.J. Henderson and Clemson CB A.J. Terrell as potential options for the Cowboys if they stick at No. 17.
  • Slater adds the Cowboys have kicked around the idea of trading back and drafting Michigan C Cesar Ruiz, though it would be tough if Oklahoma WR CeeDee Lamb or Alabama CB Trevon Diggs were available.
  • The Cowboys haven’t had any recent talks about a trade with the Jets for S Jamal Adams. (Slater)

Eagles

  • NBC Sports’ Peter King says he’s heard Alabama WR Henry Ruggs III will not get past the Eagles at No. 21.
  • King mentions Eagles WR Alshon Jeffery is a candidate to be traded during the draft.
  • The Athletic’s Zach Berman says re-signing TE Trey Burton for the No. 3 tight end position would be a smart move by the Eagles. However, it remains to be seen if Burton would accept that small of a role.

Giants

  • According to Forbes’ Vincent Frank, the 49ers have shown some interest in a trade for TE Evan Engram as they look to add a second tight end behind George Kittle
  • Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post writes the Giants will look to trade down from their No. 36 overall pick in the second round, adding they might even prefer to move down to add more mid-round picks.
  • Yahoo Sports’ Charles Robinson says that while he’s sure the Giants have Oregon QB Justin Herbert No. 1 on their quarterback board, he’s certain they aren’t drafting him.
  • Robinson points out this is a classic Patriots move by new HC Joe Judge to gather information on Herbert just in case the Giants have the chance to acquire him later.

Redskins

  • NBC Sports’ Peter King mentions Redskins LT Trent Williams is a candidate to be traded during the draft.
  • According to Ben Standig, the thinking inside the Redskins’ organization is that RB Bryce Love’s recovery from a significant knee injury still remains uncertain.
  • Love is 16 months removed from the ACL tear he suffered at Stanford and Standig wonders about his status with the team after Washington signed other running backs.
