Giants
Giants GM Dave Gettleman said Saturday night that there were two teams in front of them who would have taken QB Daniel Jones had he been available.
“I can say this to you guys right now. When we got in here Thursday night, the question was posed, ‘Why didn’t you wait until 17?‘” Gettleman said, via ESPN.com. “Well, I know for a fact there were two teams that would have taken him in front of 17. I know that for a fact.
“So it’s tough. It really is. It wasn’t easy for me to pass up Josh Allen. For me, my background, that was very, very difficult. But I think that much of Daniel Jones and his future as an NFL quarterback.”
- Ralph Vacchiano reports that these teams were the Broncos and Redskins.
- However, Dianna Russini refutes this report and says: “The Redskins and Broncos were never taking Daniel Jones. In Washington, some tried to convince ownership they should take Jones but it never was going to happen.“
Redskins
- A report said that the Redskins would have taken Duke QB Daniel Jones had he been available to them. However, Dianna Russini refutes this report and says: “The Redskins and Broncos were never taking Daniel Jones. In Washington, some tried to convince ownership they should take Jones but it never was going to happen.“
- According to NBC Sports’ J.P. Finlay, he doesn’t believe the Redskins will exercise WR Josh Doctson‘s fifth-year option by this Friday’s deadline.
