NFC East Notes: Cowboys, Redskins, Jay Gruden

Cowboys

Cowboys executive Stephen Jones said he expects G Connor Williams to be a “mainstay” on the team’s offensive line for “many years to come.

I think Connor Williams is gonna be a mainstay in our offensive line for many years to come. … I think we’ll be talking about him just like we do several of the other players on our offensive line,” said Williams, via Jon Machota.

Redskins

  • Redskins WR Josh Doctson has cleared the league’s concussion protocol and will play in Week 15. (John Keim)
  • According to John Keim, Redskins RB Chris Thompson was listed as questionable due to illness but “will be fine” for Sunday’s game.

Jay Gruden

Redskins HC Jay Gruden said the team’s four-game losing streak is not weighing on him “at all” and that he is focused on finishing the season.

It doesn’t weigh on me at all,” Gruden said, via John Keim of ESPN. “My key works; I come in and work. … I understand it. You’re fine, you’re fine, you’re fine and then you’re not fine. I’ll wait to get final word when the season is over.

Gruden added that it is not his responsibility to judge his own performance.

“It’s not my job to judge [my performance],” Gruden said. “It’s my job to coach the guys I’ve got. There’s only one judge and he’s the one that has all the money. He’s the one that writes the checks. It’s up to him.
