NFC East Notes: Demarcus Lawrence, Cowboys, Eagles

Demarcus Lawrence

  • Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer reports the Cowboys’ desire to have DE Demarcus Lawrence have surgery to repair a torn labrum helped move the deal forward.
  • Lawrence didn’t want to have the surgery until he was under contract and the timetable for rehab meant Dallas needed to sign him to an extension well before the July 15 deadline. Lawrence will have the surgery on Wednesday.
  • Lawrence’s agent said the plan if an extension wasn’t reached was to report the Saturday before Week 1 and not sit out the whole season: โ€œWe were never going to turn down $20.5 million for one. This was not going to be the Leโ€™Veon Bell situation.โ€
  • Breer writes that Lawrence’s agent was working on a potential trade with two other AFC teams at one point when negotiations stalled, with one of them ready to pull the trigger.

Cowboys

Eagles

According to Zack Rosenblatt, the Eagles list of top-30 visits already has or will include:
