NFC Notes: 49ers, Rams, Seahawks

49ers

Defensive Rookie of the Year DE Nick Bosa is certainly enjoying the opportunity to go up against a powerful, Pro Bowl-caliber tackle like Trent Williams in practice this offseason.

โ€œHeโ€™s got a really low center of gravity, and itโ€™s tough to power him and get underneath him, which is something I like to use to my advantage,โ€ Bosa said via Matt Barrows of The Athletic. โ€œFor him โ€” he plays so low to the ground and he can bend so well that heโ€™s never really up high and exposing himself to power. Youโ€™re not going to beat Trent clean very often. Getting a clean win on him is a good feeling. He changes it up daily and almost every play it seems like. Itโ€™s just forced me to react a little bit more and just learn different ways to beat different hand punches and grabs. Iโ€™m just learning a bunch of good stuff. So hopefully it will help me out this year.โ€

Williams is also enjoying the opportunity to work against a player he believes is one of the best pass rushers in the NFL.

โ€œNick, heโ€™s better than I already thought he was, and I knew he was top three, four in the game,โ€ Williams said via NBC Sports’ Matt Maiocco. โ€œBut just going up against him every day, seeing how smart he is, seeing how hard he works, and seeing just how seriously he takes the game, I honestly see his trajectory as being one of the best in the game. When itโ€™s all said and done, when you say whoโ€™s the best pass-rusher, all-around D-end, I think Nick Bosa may be the first name that comes out of a lot of peopleโ€™s mouth.โ€

Rams

  • The Athletic’s Jourdan Rodrigue notes it was apparent the Rams are trying to ramp up second-round WR Van Jefferson quickly. The rookie played extensively in Saturday night’s scrimmage including a series with the first team against CB Jalen Ramsey.
  • Rodrigue notes Rams LBs Micah Kiser and Travin Howard were the first two inside linebackers with the first-team defense.
  • Rams RB Darrell Henderson sustained a soft tissue injury during the team’s Saturday scrimmage and did not finish the practice. (Steve Wyche)

Seahawks

  • Brady Henderson reports that Seahawks DE Branden Jackson was released from the hospital Saturday night.
  • Jackson is wearing a neck brace as a precaution and will continue to be evaluated after he was knocked unconscious during yesterday’s scrimmage.
  • According to Henderson, Jackson was able to drive himself home from the team’s facility.
