NFC Notes: Bears, Cowboys, Saints

Bears

  • The Chicago Bears announced Friday that Deshea Townsend will now carry the title of secondary coach.
  • The Bears also promoted Sean Desai to safeties coach and Bill Shuey to defensive pass analyst/assistant linebackers coach.

Cowboys

Cowboys QB Dak Prescott said he expects Dallas to “pay what’s deserved” once it comes time for them to negotiate a long-term extension.

“I think the team knows how to pay what’s deserved,” Prescott told Jori Epstein of USA Today and pay those other people at the same time what’s deserved without being frugal.

Prescott explained he doesn’t have the luxury of Tom Brady, who has been signing team-friendly contracts for several years now.

“Nobody’s wife makes as much money as his wife does either,” Prescott told Jori Epstein of USA Today. “When Tom Brady isn’t the breadwinner in the home, then that’s a great problem to have.

“So, in that case, he can do that. He can do his contract however you want to do it.

Saints

  • Nick Underhill reports that DE Alex Okafor’s renegotiated contract with the Saints that paid him the sack bonus he missed out on also changed the language of his contract changed to automatically void on the last day of the 2018 league year.
  • Okafor previously had to give written notice to the Saints to void the agreement.
