NFC Notes: Bears, Packers, Vikings

Bears

  • ESPN’s Dan Graziano reports that Bears WR Allen Robinson informed the team he would rather be traded if they cannot reach an agreement on a new extension.
  • NJ.com’s Mike Kaye lists the Bears as a team that could be interested in trading for TE Zach Ertz if the Eagles decide to move him this year or in the offseason. Kaye expects Philadelphia to ask for a second-round pick.

Lions

Lions RB D’Andre Swift scored a touchdown in his NFL debut as a second-round rookie. But unfortunately for Swift that was overshadowed on a moment that came later in the game. After giving up a late lead, the Lions were driving for a potential game-winning touchdown. Swift broke open in the endzone and had the ball in his hands, but the surehanded back who never dropped a pass at Georgia let this one clank off his hands. His teammate, RB Adrian Peterson, made sure to talk to Swift afterward to not let the failure of dropping a game-winning touchdown hang over the start of a hopefully promising career.

“I just pulled him to the side and told him, ‘Hey, it’s all about how you respond to this. Don’t let this get you down,’” Peterson said via Tim Twentyman of the team’s website. “I can imagine how he feels in that situation, how he must feel. But at the end of the day, what he showed me today, is that he’s going to be able to help us. He’s going to win games for us going into the season. Just keep your head up, man. We have 15 more, and at the end of the day, do not let this bother you. Do not let this linger.”

Packers

  • ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler mentions Packers LT David Bakhtiari is looking like a strong candidate for the franchise tag given how the tackle market has moved.
  • Fowler also expects the Packers to work out an extension for C Corey Linsley, adding it shouldn’t be complicated.
  • The Packers hosted free agent OT Ryan Pope for a tryout on Tuesday. (Aaron Wilson)

Vikings

  • ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler notes there are persistent whispers Vikings DE Danielle Hunter is not content with his deal, which at $14 million per year leaves him massively underpaid compared to the NFL’s top pass rushers.
  • The Vikings hosted free agent DB George Iloka for a visit on Tuesday. (Aaron Wilson)
