NFC Notes: Buccaneers, Cardinals, Panthers

Buccaneers

  • Greg Auman mentions that the Buccaneers have two open roster spots with training camp opening next week and he wouldn’t be surprised if they signed a long-snapper, considering that Drew Ferris has never played in an NFL game.
  • According to Auman, the Bucs have not reached out recently to LS Garrison Sanborn, who was with the team last year.

Cardinals

Thomas Sims, the agent for Cardinals DL Robert Nkemdiche, says his client is focused on putting together a breakout 2018 season.

“He’s super focused on having a breakthrough season,” said Sims, via SportsAgentBlog.com.

Nkemdiche expects to be a “dominant, effective and disruptive football player in his third year in the NFL.

“That’s what it’s going to be, this year is going to be really, really fun,” Nkemdiche said, via the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “There are going to be a lot of things I’m going to do on the field. This is going to (lead) to a lot of the things I want to do. I’m going to have a good season, really be dominant, effective and disruptive football player in general.

“That’s what it’s going to be. Now, is the right time. I’m healthy. I’m in the right position. Right football team. Right place. Right where I’m supposed to be. Everything will work itself out.”

Panthers

Panthers LB Thomas Davis says he plans to approach this year’s training camp as though it could be his last, even though he’s said he would like to continue his career beyond this season.

“I’m going into Spartanburg and totally embracing this whole experience with this potentially being my last time going down to Spartanburg. It’s just going to be one of those bittersweet things,” Davis said, via the Charlotte Observer.

“I’m definitely going into it with a very different mindset,” Davis added. “Because when you think about my situation and going into this season and this potentially being my last season based on whatever happens moving forward.”
