Cowboys
- Tony Pauline said on the “Draft Insiders” podcast that free agent EDGE Jadeveon Clowney would be happy signing a “decent” one-year contract with a playoff-contending team at this point, as opposed to a three-year contract a middle-of-the-road team.
- According to Pauline, the two teams on top of Clowney’s list are the Cowboys and Saints. Although, Pauline admits that the cap situations of those two teams would likely prevent them from bringing Clowney in.
- Pauline also says he doesn’t know whether either the Cowboys or Saints would be interested in adding him at this point.
Eagles
- Mike Kaye of NJ.com lists the top position battles for the Eagles heading into training camp. The most intriguing is who will start at cornerback opposite Darius Slay. It figures to be a three-man competition between Avante’ Maddox, Sidney Jones, and Rasul Douglas.
- Kaye notes that another interesting competition in the defensive backfield will be at strong safety. Will Parks, Jalen Mills, and rookie K’Von Wallace will all compete for the starting spot.
- A devastating Achilles injury to RG Brandon Brooks has put the right guard position into a tailspin for the Eagles. Kaye identifies G Matt Pryor, G Nate Herbig, G Jack Driscoll, and a free-agent signing as the possible replacements for Brooks.
- Kaye notes that while LB T.J. Edwards is likely to take over the starting job at middle linebacker, the team signed LB Jatavis Brown to create competition for Edwards.
- Kaye adds that LB Nathan Gerry will likely play outside linebacker for the Eagles.
- Replacing LT Andre Dillard as the swing tackle will either be Jordan Mailata, Prince Tega Wanogho, or a potential addition through free agency, according to Kaye.
- There are a plethora of running backs behind Miles Sanders and Boston Scott who will be battling for roster spots. This includes Corey Clement, Elijah Holyfield, Mike Warren, and Adrian Killins.
Giants
- Ryan Dunleavy reports that the Arkansas Razorbacks are filing a motion to dismiss a $7 million lawsuit from Giants assistant coach Bret Bielema over severance pay for being fired from Arkansas.
- Ralph Vacchiano believes that Giants GM David Gettleman is under the most pressure from the organization.
- He notes that while Gettleman hasn’t missed on all of his draft picks, he has made some poor free agent signings and trades. This has led to the organization’s patience for him being virtually non-existent, according to Vacchiano.
