NFC Notes: Eagles, Packers, Vikings

Eagles

  • Eagles HC Doug Pederson tellsย Peter Kingย thatย he saw โ€œa little hesitationโ€ in QB Carson Wentz onย Saturday, but he was encouraged overall: “I think thatโ€™s natural. Itโ€™s more about his head than his knee right now.โ€
  • According to King, the Eagles never got the kind of offer that would have convinced GM Howie Roseman to trade Nick Foles this offseason.

Packers

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers reiterated during an interview with Albert Breer of TheMMQB.com that he plans to play at least until he’s 40.

โ€œMinimum is 40,โ€ Rodgers said. โ€œIโ€™d love to be a starter at 40, so thatโ€™d be 40 turning 41. Thatโ€™d be awesome because not many guys have been to play really well to that age.โ€

Regarding his contract, Rodgers says the two parties have discussed “a number of different types of deals.”

โ€œWeโ€™ve talked about a number of different types of deals. Thereโ€™s obviously mutual interest on both sides in keeping me in Green Bay for the duration,” Rodgers said. “Thatโ€™s definitely what you want as a player. You see the rarity of it in sports, and you think about guys like Kobe, guys like Tim Duncan, Dirk Nowitzki, who spent entire career with one organization, Tommy in New England. Itโ€™s very rare. That would be the goal. โ€ฆ. As far as setting a trend or breaking down things, itโ€™s great for the game and its players, for sure, whenย Kirk [Cousins]ย does a deal like he did. The reality is, thereโ€™s not many teams that would do that, first of all. And there arenโ€™t many teams that would do it for more than three years. So at some point, there are going to be contracts that will continue to extend that, and thereโ€™s been guys whoโ€™ve done it over the years, whoโ€™ve done monumental things, whether itโ€™sย Reggie Whiteย in free agency, that make a difference for the next generation. Thatโ€™s something you can have as part of your legacy.โ€

Vikings

Vikings RB Dalvin Cook says he’s ready to deliver hits to the defense in the team’s first padded practice.

โ€œIโ€™m readyย to deliver it,โ€ Cook said, via Andrew Krammer of theย Minneapolis Star Tribune. โ€œThatโ€™s what Iโ€™m ready to do. Thatโ€™s my mind-set, man. Iโ€™m going to go out there and play and be me. I know my knee is fixed. I know Iโ€™m healed up. Put the time in, go out there and play.โ€
