The Cowboys used the franchise tag on WR George Pickens this offseason. Dallas HC Brian Schottenheimer said he hasn’t reached out to Pickens to see if he plans on attending OTAs in April.
“And I haven’t pushed that on him,” Schottenheimer said, via Todd Archer of ESPN. “I mean, again, we’re all going through the process. It’s almost April. We’re still a couple weeks away. It’s going to play out the way it plays out. Again, it’s all voluntary. We’ll see where it goes.”
Schottenheimer added that they have plans to have Pickens in Dallas “for a long time.”
“Hey, look, GP loves it here. We love GP,” Schottenheimer said. “We have plans for GP to be here for a long time, so we’ll let the business side of this thing play out and see where it goes.”
As for what he learned about Pickens last season, Schottenheimer said the receiver likes to move around and they plan on continuing to do so next season.
“What I learned about him [in 2025] was he likes to be moved around,” Schottenhiemer said. “And we kind of learned that when CeeDee [Lamb] was out, quite honestly, because CeeDee’s been the guy we’ve moved around. So when we had that stretch where he went crazy, we were moving him around. So he’s excited about that. He’s looking forward to that.”
Cowboys
Cowboys HC Brian Schottenheimer mentioned the team tried to get an inside linebacker in free agency, but they’re not done after none of the options worked out.
“Look, we made a run at some guys in free agency. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. What do you do? You adjust,” he said via the Athletic’s Jon Machota. “It’s something we’re working on 365 (days), 24/7. We’ve got a good plan. We’re not done. We’re always open for business. Part of it is going to be (DeMarvion Overshown) having a tremendous year. Shemar James is a guy we’re excited about. We recognize that we need to fill some holes there.”
Schottenheimer was asked why they didn’t break the bank to sign any top options.
“Hey, we were trying. And if they don’t take the money, they don’t take the money. I felt like the offers we made were very, very fair. They were big numbers. We were very competitive. It’s hard to compete with a couple of former teammates (Quay Walker, Nakobe Dean) that wanted to go play together, and there’s different reasons about why you lose these guys. But we were very competitive in those deals. But that’s the business. … We’re far from being done.”
- Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones was asked if they need to add a veteran LB before the draft: “I don’t think it has to be before the draft. I don’t think there’s any timing on it. I go back to player acquisition is 365 days a year … There’s always opportunities for trades.” (Todd Archer)

Giants
Giants HC John Harbaugh said he’s confident in both OL Evan Neal and OL Joshua Ezeudu and believes their best football is still yet ahead of them.
“I’m excited about those two guys. You know, from the beginning — I remember as far back as the draft process — those two players were guys we felt really good about in Baltimore. We had them highly graded,” Harbaugh said, via Giants Wire. “They haven’t broken through yet, but why can’t they? What George Bernard Shaw said: Some men see things as they are and ask why. We see things as they aren’t and ask why not? And that’s kind of what I say with those two guys. Why not give them the opportunity? They’re motivated. They came in the office, they sat down, and they laid out a plan and a vision for what they want to accomplish and the type of players they want to be. And they showed us what they’re doing to make that happen right now. So, let’s give them a shot. Let’s give them an opportunity. They’re talented, they’re tough, and they have big dreams. If they’re going to dream big, I’d like them to do it right here in our building and try to realize those dreams with us. We’ll give them a shot to do that.”
