NFC South Notes: Buccaneers, Falcons, Panthers

Buccaneers

Buccaneers’ veteran DT Gerald McCoy said he plans on playing in 2019 but is unsure of what team he will be on.

“I will be playing football somewhere,” said McCoy, via Mike Cairns. “I don’t know. We’ll see. Fans know I love them. I’ll be on the field at some point.”

  • Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times writes that Buccaneers’ sixth-round WR Scotty Miller has “tried to copy” Titans and former Buccaneers WR Adam Humphries after studying him on film.
  • Although Stroud adds that Miller “reminds some” of Humphries, he believes Miller’s size and speed are more similar to DeSean Jackson.

Falcons

Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff said he is “very encouraged” with extension negotiations with WR Julio Jones but there is no timeline on a possible deal being reached.

Both parties are in a good place. There’s no timeline but I’m not worried. Julio will be around while we’re working on it,” via Jeff Schultz

Panthers

Panthers’ second-round OT Greg Little believes he can be a “top tackle” in the NFL and understands that the team has “high expectations” for him.

They have high expectations of me and I’ve had high expectations since high school coming out and being a top tackle. Just work. I’m not looking for any handouts. I’m here to earn it,” said Little, via Max Henson

Regarding the Panthers picking up third-round QB Will Grier, backup QB Kyle Allen said he expected that the team would select a quarterback and thinks Grier should have been “drafted higher” this year.

I think he should have been drafted higher,” said Allen, via Max Henson of the team’s official site
