NFC South Notes: Buccaneers, Falcons, Saints

Buccaneers

Falcons

  • According to Jason La Canfora, the buzz about the Falcons looking to trade up in the first round is “very real.”
  • La Canfora says it has become an accepted reality within league circles that the Falcons are motivated to land Florida CB C.J. Henderson if possible.
  • Matt Miller of B/R says there’s a “ton of smoke” that the Falcons want to trade up into the top 10 picks for a cornerback or defensive tackle.

Saints

  • Regarding the possibility of the Saints possibly selecting a quarterback in the draft, Mike Triplett of ESPN mentions that Utah State’s Jordan Love is a “pretty tantalizing” option to sit under Drew Brees for a year.
  • However, Triplett does not think the Saints would force the pick at No. 24 overall pick since they still like Taysom Hill‘s potential and it remains to be seen whether Love would actually fall that far.
  • While Saints HC Sean Payton did not take part in Love’s virtual meeting with the team, he praised the quarterback’s throwing ability and feels he’ll be a “first or second round” pick: “I see real good arm talent. I see a player that’s got a great release. He can throw from out of the pocket. He can throw inside the pocket. He turned the ball over a lot this season. I think he was above 30 when you looked at his interceptions and fumbles. They had a coaching change, though, that I think hurt him to some degree. But someone that obviously is a talented prospect that’s probably going to get drafted in the first couple of rounds of this draft, first or second round of this draft.
