NFC South Notes: Buccaneers, Panthers, Saints

Buccaneers

• According to ESPN’s Jenna Laine, the Buccaneers will likely re-sign QB Jameis Winston, either to a franchise tag or a two-year deal. 
• Laine adds the Buccaneers will also likely re-sign LB Shaquil Barrett, though they’ll have a dilemma with the franchise tag between Barrett and Winston.
• Laine lists LB Carl Nassib, DT Ndamukong Suh and WR Breshad Perriman as strong candidates for Tampa Bay to re-sign. 
• Meanwhile, the Buccaneers are more likely to let LB Jason Pierre-Paul and OT Demar Dotson leave in free agency, per Laine. 

Panthers

• Per the Athletic’s Joseph Person, Panthers interim HC Perry Fewell said Panthers CB Ross Cockrell would start Sunday against the Saints but CB Donte Jackson would return to the lineup in some fashion. 

Saints

• Per Katherine Terrell of the Athletic, Saints QB Drew Brees was listed on the injury report because of inflammation in his knee, but he should be “fine.”
