NFC West Notes: 49ers, Cardinals, Seahawks

49ers

Despite a poor performance from the teamโ€™s defense last night, 49ers HC Kyle Shanahan said he has โ€œa ton of confidenceโ€ in DC Robert Saleh.

โ€œSaleh is very good at what he does, and I have a ton of confidence in him and I have ton of confidence in our scheme,โ€ Shanahan said, via NBC Bay Area. โ€œThey made the plays to win at the end that we didnโ€™t.โ€

  • Shanahan said that newly signed QB Tom Savage will serve as their third-string quarterback behind C.J. Beathard and Nick Mullens. (Nick Wagoner)

Cardinals

  • Cardinals OC Mike McCoy was asked if he thought his job was in jeopardy if they donโ€™t win Thursday: โ€œWeโ€™re preparing like any other week. Our objective every week is to go out and win the next game that youโ€™re playing. Thatโ€™s our focus.โ€ (Josh Weinfuss)
  • On Monday, Cardinals HC Steve Wilks said of McCoyโ€™s job security: โ€œIโ€™d say all our jobs are in jeopardy if we donโ€™t win.โ€ (Josh Weinfuss)

Seahawks

  • Seahawks HC Pete Carroll said Tuesday that LB K.J. Wright (knee) will practice in Week 8, but he is considered unlikely to play against the Lions. (Brady Henderson)
  • Carroll was more optimistic about TE Ed Dicksonโ€™s (quad, NFI) chances of returning in Week 8.
