NFC West Notes: 49ers, Cardinals, Seahawks

49ers

Cardinals

Cardinals veteran WR Larry Fitzgerald mentioned during an interview with Sirius XM NFL Radio that he has a “checklist” he follows in the offseason designed to give himself “some time to decompress.” From there, Fitzgerald plans to speak with owner Michael Bidwill about his plans for 2019.

“I’ll sit down and talk to Mr. Bidwill and we’ll figure out what’s going to happen from there,” Fitzgerald said. “I know there’s a lot going on back home, new coaches and things are being hired, so he’s busy doing that and obviously the franchise’s future is most important, so I’m just going to take a little time until everything slows down a bit.

  • The Arizona Cardinals announced that they’ve hired OL coach Sean Kugler, assistant OL coach Brian Natkin, WRs coach David Raih and retained Steve Heiden to coach TEs.
  • Mike Klis reports that Broncos DBs coach Marcus Robertson drawing interest from the Cardinals.

Seahawks

Seahawks LB Bobby Wagner has made the decision to represent himself instead of having an agent negotiate his next contract.

Wagner says he’d like to have an extension in place before the 2019 season, but he’s “prepared for anything that happens.”

“Would I like to be taken care of before the (2019) season? That’d be great,” Wagner said, via Gregg Bell of the News Tribune. “If I’m not, that wouldn’t be the end of the world. I understand this is a business, and I am prepared for anything that happens.

“So if they sign me before then, cool. If they don’t, cool, too.

“But, you know, I want to be here. This is where I want to be for my career. This is an amazing city, amazing fans, amazing organization. So I would love to be here.

“I’m going to make sure the business takes care of itself.”
