NFL News: Panthers Sign Jeremy Shockey

Jeremy Shockey himself reports that the Carolina Panthers have signed the veteran tight end to a two-year deal.

It seemed like the Miami Dolphins were the favorites to land Shockey considering his ties to the University of Miami but Shockey apparently felt that Carolina was his best option.

“Looks like I’m signing with Carolina,” Shockey posted on Facebook.   “Time for the Next chapter. This is a great opportunity for me, and I am excited to play football. Lets hope we all have the chance to play this season.”

Panthers new offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski has a history of using tight ends a lot which probably weighed into Shockey’s decision especially after he was used sparingly in New Orleans last year.
