NFL Notes: Aaron Hernandez, Browns, Robert Griffin III & Rams

Aaron Hernandez

Carlos Ortiz, a friend of former Patriots TE Aaron Hernandez,ย pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact for his roleย in theย 2013 murder ofย Odin Lloyd, via the Associated Press.

Ortiz changed his plea to guilty on Mondayย and in return got theย murder charges dropped against him. Ortiz was sentenced to 4 1/2 to 7 years in prison.

During the court appearance, Ortiz explained thatย Hernandez and Lloyd got out of the car together after hearing a shot, he noticed thatย only Hernandez got back in the vehicle.

Browns

Tony Grossi of ESPN Cleveland mentioned during an appearance on Pro Football Talk Live that QB Robert Griffin III has been “underwhelming” in offseason workouts.

โ€œWell, if he was looking fantastic youโ€™d be hesitant to overstate it during the OTA and minicamp season,โ€ Grossi said. โ€œI mean, itโ€™s touch football and Hue Jackson constantly reminds everyone of that. But the fact is heโ€™s been underwhelming in that environment and I donโ€™t know if thatโ€™s a bad thing or itโ€™s just a sign that they havenโ€™t started playing real football yet. He is learning a new offense. First of all he is healthy, heโ€™s very healthy. He looks physically like the old Robert Griffin in that heโ€™s moving great, he can zing the ball pretty well, but thatโ€™s just the first step. So I guess the positive is that he looks very healthy and weโ€™ll have to see when they go to campย July 29thย is if heโ€™s really taken advantage of the minicamp season and learned the offense because he has been underwhelming.โ€

Rams

  • Former Rams LB Matthew Wells and WR J.J. Worton officially cleared waivers on Monday and are no unrestricted free agents.
