NFL Notes: Adrian Peterson, Lions, Panthers, Texans

Adrian Peterson

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk points out that RB Adrian Peterson‘s status must be determined by Saturday, Nov. 22 at the latest.

The CBA agreement requires that a hearing regarding an expedited grievance must occur within seven days of the filing, which would be Nov. 17 in Peterson’s case.

Once the hearing has concluded, a ruling will need to be handed down in no more than five days.

Lions

  • Lions HC Jim Caldwell said that although K Matt Prater has the third worst conversion rate on field goal attempts in the NFL this season, he isn’t concerned about him moving forward.

“Well, here’s how I look at it,” Caldwell said Monday, via the Detroit Free Press. “There’s no one that plays a perfect game. Some positions get highlighted and there’s also several things that have to go right in order for them to do their job: quarterbacks, placekickers, things of that nature.

“So I don’t get overly concerned because everybody makes a mistake here and there. And I don’t get overly concerned with guys that have done it and done it consistently well, and I think sometimes it’s just a matter of getting in a groove.”

The Lions have already cut Nate Freese and Alex Henery this season, so this remains an issue to keep an eye on in the coming weeks.

Panthers

  • Mike Garafolo reports that QB Cam Newton‘ssluggishness” is due to a myriad of injuring including an ankle, foot, thumb, ribs and wrist.
  • HC Ron Rivera told reporters after the game that tests came back negative regarding DT Star Lotulelei‘s injury, and his injury is not as serious as initially feared. (Max Henson)
