NFL Notes: Bears, Falcons, Redskins, & Titans

Bears

Michael C. Wright of ESPN.com expects the Bears to keep Chris Conte, rookie Brock Vereen, Ryan Mundy and Craig Steltz as their top-four safeties coming out of training camp.

Wright adds that if Chicago were to keep five safeties, M.D. Jennings would likely beat out Danny McCray for the job.

Veteran Adrian Wilson was just added to the team’s roster, but he is coming off of a torn Achilles, so it’s really hard to gauge where he is in his recovery.

Falcons

  • The Atlanta Falcons announced that they have placed WR Drew Davis on the training camp physically unable to perform list.

Redskins

John Keim of ESPN.com mentions that the Redskins expect to have free agent acquisition Tracy Porter back in time for the start of training camp.

According to Keim, once Porter’s offseason shoulder surgery is 100 percent, he is the team’s “clear slot corner.”

Keim adds that Washington is likely to open the year with DeAngelo Hall and David Amerson on the outside.

Titans

Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean believes you can “pencil inWesley Woodyard as one of the team’s starting inside linebackers.

Wyatt adds that the other inside linebacker position is still “up for grabs” with Zach Brown, Moise Fokou, Colin McCarthy, Zaviar Gooden and Avery Williamson all competing for the job.

The Titans are now running a 3-4 base defense under Ray Horton, so it will be interesting to see how their linebacker depth chart stacks up at the end of the preseason.
