NFL Notes: Browns, Chiefs, Giants, & Jets

Browns

Browns S Donte Whitner said that the team has assured him that they will not keep guys around who don’t comply with team rules.

“I’ve been assured that we’re going to bring guys in and get guys off this bus that don’t really want to be here and do what they are supposed to do,” said Whitner, via Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

It’s worth mentioning that QB Johnny Manziel, WR Josh Gordon and CB Justin Gilbert all were punished for violating team rules this past weekend.

Chiefs

Giants

  • Dan Graziano of ESPN reports that Giants HC Tom Coughlin has been told that he will return for the 2015 season.
  • Graziano adds that Coughlin still has a meeting scheduled with owner John Mara at some point today regarding potential staff changes.
  • Mike Garafolo mentions that there is a “steady drumbeat” about a possible return of former DC Steve Spagnuolo to the Giants.

Jets

  • Owner Woody Johnson told reporters on Monday that he “love for Darrelle [Revis] to come back.

Darrelle is a great player and if I thought I could have gotten Darrelle for that, I probably would’ve taken him,” Johnson said of the contract Revis signed with the Patriots. “And it was our best judgment to do what we did. Darrelle’s a great player — I’d love for Darrelle to come back.
