NFL Notes: Buccaneers, Eagles, Seahawks, Steelers, & Titans

Buccaneers

Peter King reports that the top five players on the Buccaneers’ draft board were:

  1. Jameis Winston
  2. Leonard Williams
  3. Dante Fowler
  4. Marcus Mariota
  5. Todd Gurley

Eagles

  • Aaron Wilson reports that Citadel DL Justin Oxendine has been invited to Eagles’ rookie minicamp on tryout basis.

Seahawks

  • Aaron Wilson reports that Kansas State LB Dakorey Johnson has been invited to Seahawks’ rookie minicamp on tryout basis.

Steelers

Steelers linebackers coach Joey Porter mentioned that James Harrison will see a reduced number of snaps this season.

Harrison is going to be a better player for us if I keep his snap count down to 25 snaps [a game],” said Porter, via Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “I’ll get the best James Harrison I can out of him instead of trying to make him play like he was 25 [and getting] 60 snaps a game. I told him already, the James Harrison [of before] is over.

Titans

Titans GM Ruston Webster said the coaching staff began the process of tailoring their offense to fit No. 2 overall pick Marcus Mariota’s strengths a while ago.

“Our coaches have been working on a plan for quite some time now for Marcus,” Webster said, via NFL.com. “Really to adapting our offense to his skill set — he has a special skill set. There’s really not much he can’t do from physical standpoint and he’s very bright. That combination is going to allow him to do his own adapting to the NFL game but our coaches have worked very hard on coming up with a system within our system for Marcus. I think it will work well.
