NFL Notes: Chiefs, Colts, Jets, Redskins, Titans

Chiefs

• Adam Teicher doesn’t rule out the possibility of the Chiefs keeping both OLBs Tamba Hali and Justin Houston.
• Teicher believes the Chiefs will also make an effort to sign free agents such as DL Allen Bailey, C Rodney Hudson and FB Anthony Sherman.

Colts

• WR Reggie Wayne is practicing on Saturday, which could be a sign he’ll suit up for Sunday’s game against the Giants. (Mike Chappell)

Jets

• Rich Cimini doesn’t see the Jets trading for Browns QB Johnny Manziel as long as John Idzik is their general manager.
• Cimini mentions that he would be surprised if the Jets were to hire former Colts GM Bill Polian in some capacity, especially if Idzik remained in place.
• The Jets could be among a few teams looking to trade up for a quarterback in next year’s draft, depending on how things play out over the next few months. (Rich Cimini)
• Cimini finds it hard to believe owner Woody Johnson would fire Idzik after only two years.

Redskins

• John Keim doesn’t think QB Robert Griffin III can get his fifth-year option picked up next year without playing well over the remainder of the season.

Titans

• Paul Kuharsky identifies LT Taylor Lewan, TE Delanie Walker, WR Kendall Wright, DE Jurrell Casey, ILB Avery Williamson, CB Jason McCourty, QB Zach Mettenberger and DL DaQuan Jones as the eight players worth building around the Titans’ roster.
• Kuharsky mentions that the Titans could target an edge rusher or a quarterback that’s a long-term solution next year.
