On Wednesday, Colts CB Vontae Davis told reporters that he felt “disrespected” by HC Chuck Pagano’s decision to bench him for last week’s game.
“I’ve been here six years,” Davis said, via Stephen Holder of the Indy Star. “We’ve had similar situations where I played hurt. These things happen. And I never got confronted and (no one) said, ‘Your play has slipped.’ Nothing. I was playing at a level that was acceptable.
“But now, my play slips and this? They should have come to me way earlier and said, ‘Vontae, you’re not yourself. You’re not playing well.’ I told the trainers my groin was not responding.”
Pagano insisted that it was a coaching decision, despite reports that came out that Davis was still dealing with a groin injury.
“It should be more about the respect. I’m a professional,” Davis said. “I’ve been in (the league) long enough. When I look at the situation, I feel like there was no respect. Knowing Chuck, I figured it would come from him. It really bothered me.”
Falcons HC Dan Quinn said that free agent CB Byron Maxwell “looked good” during his Monday workout.
“He certainly looked good. He looked fit, looked strong, looked healthy,” Quinn said, per Vaughn McClure. “So that part came through really good. I know he’s really anxious to play and get back going.”
Quinn added that they were taking a look at some of the available cornerbacks this week and doing their due diligence.
“The pro department’s always kind of looking to see who else is there, if there was any roster tweaks to do,’‘ Quinn said. “To upgrade in any way, we’re always going to look for that.”

An anonymous Giants’ player tells ESPN’s Josina Anderson that HC Ben McAdoo “has lost the team” due to a number of decisions including the suspensions handed down to cornerbacks Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Janoris Jenkins.
“McAdoo has lost this team,” the player said, via Pro Football Talk. “He’s got going 80 percent on Saturdays before we get on a plane to play a game, it’s wild. Changed our off day. He’s dishing out fines like crazy. Suspended two of our stars when we need them most. Throws us under the bus all the time. He’s ran us into the ground and people wonder why we’ve been getting got.”
