NFL Notes: Dolphins, Giants, Panthers, & Texans

Dolphins

  • According to Jeff Darlington, thereโ€™s โ€œnothing imminentโ€ in regards to the Dolphinsโ€™ coaching situation.
  • HC Joe Philbin said that he plans to keep DC Kevin Coyle, even though the team struggled again on Sunday.
  • As for his job security, Philbin said heโ€™s not concerned about the situation.

Giants

  • Gary Myers of the New York Daily News writes that veteran WR Wes Welker would be a โ€œperfect fitโ€ for the Giants, given that theyโ€™ll be without slot receiver Victor Cruz for an undisclosed period of time.
  • Even though the Giants make sense on paper, Myers notes that Welkerโ€™s concussion history remains a serious concern moving forward.
  • Myers adds that unless Dwayne Harris, Geremy Davis or Shane Vereen step up in todayโ€™s game, Welker could still be a โ€œviableโ€ weapon for Eli Manning out of the slot.

Panthers

  • Joel Corry of CBS Sports notes that if the Panthers were to use their franchise tag on CB Josh Norman next year, it would run them close to $13.8 million as long as the salary cap remains at $154 million.

Texans

  • According to Ian Rapoport, the Texans are planning for RB Arian Foster to be a full-go for Week 5โ€™s match up next Thursday.
