NFL Notes: Falcons, Giants, Jaguars, & Titans

  • Even after Falcons HC Dan Quinn mentioned that he expects them to discuss re-signing LB Prince Shembo now that felony charges have been dropped, Ed Werder would still be surprising if they brought back the former fourth-round pick.

  • X-rays were negative for Giants second-round S Landon Collins, who was taken to the locker room with a knee.
  • Giants S Mykkele Thompson left the preseason opener with an Achilles injury.

  • Jaguars free agent addition TE Julius Thomas was taken to the locker room to have his left hand evaluated.
  • Ian Rapoport reports that Thomas has a fractured finger that will affect him “minimally.”

With Zach Mettenberger putting together a solid showing there has been a lot of talk that it could make sense for the quarterback-needy team to reach out to the Titans about his availability.

ESPN’s Louis Riddick mentions that if he were the Jets or the Bills, he would be getting in touch with Titans GM Ruston Webster this weekend.
